Scan Global Logistics acquires Orbis Global Logistics, led by Connect Corporate Finance

Connect Corporate Finance continues to deliver on SGL’s acquisition strategy, recently facilitating the Orbis Global Logistics transaction, as part of SGL’s entry into the New Zealand freight forwarding market.

Established in 2017, Orbis was considered a prime acquisition target for SGL, demonstrating impressive growth since inception and rapidly becoming a leading freight forwarder in NZ. This presented an ideal opportunity for SGL to gain a foothold in the region, with an established team of industry-experts leading Orbis development, the company specialises in turn-key logistics solutions, offering freight forwarding, warehousing and distribution services from its core regions of Auckland, Wellington and Tauranga.

Connect Corporate Finance was engaged by the Head of Pacific Region, Soren Madsen, and Strategic Director, Rob Erskine, to scope the Australian and New Zealand forwarding market, coordinating a diligent and comprehensive market map in line with SGL’s geographical remit, Connect identified and introduced multiple targets, with Orbis emerging as a clear favourite, due to its customer-centric ethos and diverse client focus.

The inclusion of Orbis into SGL’s global entity provides several growth opportunities for both parties, the Orbis founders, Troy Hageman, Stuart Kingdon, and Stephen Fredricson will continue leading operations, whilst looking to capitalise on SGL’s extensive global network which can be offered to it’s customers moving forward. SGL will benefit from broadening its footprint in the Pacific, gaining access to one of the few mid-tier logistics providers in NZ, and accessing a market which is expected to see strong demand in the years to come.
